Does it Come with the Territory?

This past week I have been thinking about what it means to be a woman in the 21st century. What can we expect in a time where the whole world is open to us? The past week it seems that we have to keep on smiling even if someone makes us feel uncomfortable. We are expected to not make much of a fuss out fear of being seen as too sensitive or a "bitch" about certain things specifically unwanted advances by men. For some reason having a vagina means you are open for business even if you are not remotely attracted to the person coercing you. You are suppose to smile and be faltered by the fact you are so damn sexy they cannot keep their hands to themselves. What gives you the right to touch me? I do not know you nor do i want your hands anywhere on me. I am not your baby so please remove yourself from my sight. Accidental Actress

Over the course of a year I have somehow become an actress. Its interesting to me because if someone would have told me a year ago that my life would consists of auditions, rehearsals, character development and late night shooting I would have asked them what they have been smoking. What I have learnt is that life never goes according to plan and I have accidentally become an actress.I have somehow find myself walking into a room full of three to six people staring me down with a video camera, intimidating. I am not complaining at all, I love it. I feel as if I am discovering parts of myself that I locked far far away. The life of an actor is full of disappointments and uncertainty but the rewards make every rejection worth it. I am currently apart of Brooklyn Innovative Theatre Experience(BITE) production of Prom Night of the Living Dead.
