Moving on, starting fresh

I DID IT! I graduated college! All the sleepless nights, pulling of the hair and crying myself to sleep have paid off, I now have my college diploma. Now that I have ended one successful chapter in my life I am looking forward to embarking on the next one. I am looking forward to igniting the flame inside of me and turning it into a full blown bonfire. I am not sure what the future holds but I cannot wait to find out. When I was five I never thought I was going to live in Tunisia or Mozambique for that matter. I never would have imagined that if I put my mind to it I could study abroad in Australia nor did i think I would go to college in upstate New York. I have done so pretty much amazing things but I still want to do more. I want to see the world, get touched spiritually and emotionally by incredible individuals, hopefully bring joy to all of those around me, laugh more, cry less, regret less, write more, cook more and live each day to its fullest. In effort to start anew I have d...

Summer Movies

It's May 1 which makes it the first weekend of SUMMER MOVIES! All year I have not been excited by any movie that was released. The last movie I saw in cinema was Slumdog Millionaire but that was released last year so it does not count. Summer movie season has started with the release of the much anticipated X- Men Origins: Wolverine . I have been excited about this movie since I first heard about it last spring. It looks amazing and it is directed by the amazing Gavin Hood(Check out Tsotsi to his cinematic genius). However, I have been hearing not so excellent reviews from people who saw it, so my excitement has dwindled. For the most part there are not many movies that I am wetting my pants for. But the ones that I am excited for have got me in a complete frenzy. I am also dying because the best show on television is coming back next month. Yes I am talking about True Blood . Hell Yeah! My Top 5 5. Brüno I think Sasha Baron Cohen is the funniest man on the planet. I adored Brün...

Naked: A Poem Inspired by my Muse

Image
I first wrote this poem about two years ago. There have been some alterations since I first wrote it but it is one of my favorites. Naked I want you to be the one to see inside of me, Deep inside of me where no one has been before. I want you to see me stripped of my layers, Stripped of all the excess baggage that have broken my back. Even though your burnt caramel complexion is tempting, I am not referring to anything physical. I am talking about seeing me emotionally and spiritually bare. I want you see me laugh, Until tears of joy spring from my eyes. I want you to see me cry, Until my eyes are swollen. I want you to be able to provoke me Until I am so enraged that I could kill you. I want to be able look into your eyes Until I see the chocolate melting within them ...

My New Anthems

Well watching VH1's One Hit Wonders of the 80's, I was overjoyed to hear this song. It is my happy go lucky song. It always reminds me of the end of Clueless when Josh and Cher are kissing. I am trying to live my life not giving a s*** about how people perceive me. In this process I have come upon a new anthem. Lil' Kim - No Matter What They Say Uploaded by foxysoul Then there was an anthem that gave me the lingo so start my mission.Honestly it seems that Lady Gaga writes for me.

I didn't know I had a baby

I came across an adorable clip on youtube that is called "Baby Givin the evil look!" When I watched it I thought I did not know I had a baby. This kid has perfected the look that is my trademark, therefore he must be my son. Check it out,

This girl is amazing!

So i came across this link through my cousin. This young girl is absolutely amazing. Her name is Gerra Gistand and she is a MLK scholar. She gave a speech about what she thought Martin Luther King Jr. would say if he was alive today. I do not think at her age I had this amount of passion in my voice. If I am honest with myself she has the amount of stage presence in her voice that I would love to emulate. I say get it girl. She is definitely going places and will probably be a voice for her generation.

Oscars Tonight

Tonight is a big night! The Oscars will be happening in a few hours, so I got to do as much reading before that. It is no secret that I have been rooting for Slumdog Millionaire( in my opinion an instant classic). I cannot wait to see my barely legal husband, Dev Patel tonight. Fun fact his parents are from Kenya(Hey now). It should be a good show and not much a bore as last years. The host is the talented and sexiest man alive (according to People) Hugh Jackman. I still do not understand why Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will be performing at the Oscars( this is a show that honors the creme of the creme in acting, not in spray tanning). Ha Ha, I made a funny! I am hoping that Kate Winslet finally picks up a trophy for Best Actress. She was incredible in The Reader but I will be happy if Meryl Streep wins as well(she really is the HBIC when it comes to acting). I am hoping that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button picks up so awards as well. I loved that movie, it really pulled my he...
