Three Nights in Nola: Day One

After being inside the world for three fabulous decades, I decided it was about time for me to celebrate my life. My sister and I headed down to the Big Easy with two of our best gals to welcome ourselves to the 30 year old club.

Our trip to New Orleans began bright and early on Saturday morning. After checking into our Airbnb and resting for a few hours, we decided it was time to check out the city. Our first stop was to Ruby Slippers for brunch. I started my day off with a mimosa and 3 Little Pig Omelette.
3 Little Pit Omelette with fresh fruits and biscuits.
I will have to admit that was one damn good omelette. Once we were done eating, we heading down to the Marriott to pick up the last passenger on our trip. Once our group was complete we headed to the French Quarters.
I had to look as fabulous as the city made me feel.
The French Quarters was surreal. It was building after building, of vibrant colors and beautiful architecture. Each building was dripping with history and I was in heaven.
Look at those colors

We even got to see a wedding party that was accompanied by the second line. I even jumped in the action for a few seconds before coming to my senses. I was not part of the party, I was just acting a damn fool.

The French Quarters was filled with fortune tellers. I was a bit skeptical to get my fortune told, but if there was a place to do it, New Orleans would be that place. We took some time to enjoy the view at Jackson Square. I even had an encounter with a creature I believed to be a rat. I was not too sure, but I know that it was definitely not a squirrel.

What time is it? Sigh seeing time.

I absolutely loved the French Quarters. Every turn was picturesque.

Everyone was in high spirits. It could have something to do with the warm weather and the wonderful drinks. We even passed the famous Bourbon Street. We would soon learn how the famous street got down once the sun set.
As the day run on, the weather gods decided to bless us with tempestuous rains. We found ourselves having to seek shelter, to wait out the storm. The rain was a bit too strong for my broken umbrella.

We ended our night at Huck Finn's, a local restaurant and sports bar. We had the most wonderful waiter. The people in New Orleans are the sweetest souls I have ever met. I had the taste of New Orleans platter. I got to try gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish etouffee.  Honestly, I was not entirely happy with my food. I had my heart set on a delicious crawfish boil and I did not find it on the menu.

So that was a first day in New Orleans.  The following day would be one for the history books.
