Three Nights in Nola: Jazz and Beignets

Our first day in New Orleans was  a complete success. Minus the humidity and heavy rain, I was in love with the Crescent City. Our second day was jammed pack with activities, I am shocked that I managed to keep up. It was a Sunday, out of all the days we were there it was the sunniest day. We started the day off at Cafe du Monde. Where we got to try the famous Beignets. The line was ridiculously long, but the wait was not long at all. Beignets tasted like funnel cake, it was delicious but I could only stomach two of them.

We had arranged to do a music tour later on that afternoon, we had some hours to kill so we did some exploring. Our first exploration was near the pier where we had an impromptu photo shoot.

The breeze got me feeling a kind of way

You really can't take me anywhere

We boarded the tram and made our way to the Garden District.
Aren't the trams cute?
If I ever move down to New Orleans, I am going to live here. Obviously, I would have to make a name for myself because it's kind of fancy. This is the district that famous residents include Sandra Bullock and Ann Rice. We spoke to a  lovely woman who lived across from the house they filmed The Curious Case Benjamin Button in.
Nothing curious about this house.

I would have taken a picture of Sandra Bullock's house, but I wanted to be respectful of her privacy. She has the most wonderful home and it is right next the Benjamin Button house.
How colorful is this house?

The colors just pop
After some wonderful time roaming the Garden District it came time for us to make our way to Voodoo Lounge to embark on our music tour. We had the most fabulous tour guide named Ducky. If you ever go to New Orleans, I would suggest you take the musical walking tour of the Treme neighborhood.

It was quite informative. I learnt an awful lot about the musical history of NOLA. We had a little pit stop at this cute coffee shop that I will  definitely go back to in the future. My next visit I will get myself a snow ball.
There were just so many colorful homes and personalities bursting out in Treme. I was in love. I had to slow down on the amount of photos I was taking. I did not want to come off as a camera happy tourist.

After the tour, we went home and got ready for the night. We ended our evening at Sylvain for dinner. It was a romantic spot. I had my heart set on the Braised Beef Cheeks but, it was sold out so I settled for pan fried pork shoulders. It was a little salty for my taste and so was my mood for the rest of the evening. We did go bar hopping on bourbon street. The first few were not my cup of tea, but the last two were amazing. One was a karaoke bar and the other one I believe was Bourbon Pub/ Parade. Once again, I will go back to both locations on my next trip to New Orleans.
