Fall: 'Tis the Season of New Beginnings

Image
My little break from work Walking on the tracks The past few weeks have been insane. I have lost all concept of time and somehow, September crept up on me. Later on, I will delve into what has taken up my time. I am not upset about September's quick arrival. After all, it is the beginning of 2014-2015 television season. I can look forward to pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider donuts. In a few days, my nephew will be born and my brother will have gotten married.  Later on this month, I will have a full recap of all the wedding festivities (wedding takes place in Cape Cod) and the craziness that takes place shooting an independent film (why I no longer know what day it is). In the meantime, please have a listen to my favorite song of the moment Habits (Stay High) by Tove Lo.

Quaker Steak & Lube

Image
Maybe it was a little over a month ago, when I first noticed Quaker Steak &Lube off of US 1. I had never heard of the Lube before but it was apparent that it had a good reputation. On Friday evening my sister and I finally decided to check out Quaker Steak & Lube before we caught Dawn of the Planet of the Apes . Wildberry Lube A Rita We came just in time for happy hour and were able to get our Lube-A-Rita for $4. The appetizers were also on sale and we opted for the Sprintster. Yes, the Sprintster comes in a plate shaped like an egg carton. After having the best wings I have ever tasted, it was time for our entrees. I got the Mac & Cheezburger because when will I ever get one again. Nom Nom Nom Mac & Cheezburger  I was worried that I would feel like a stuffed pig after eating my meal. I was delighted to know that was not the case. Someone is pickled to eat good food.  If you are ever in the Edison, New Jersey area make sure you make ...

Listening to: Stay with Me by Sam Smith Dear American musicians please get your s*** together. These British artists are destroying you. If I Could Change Your Mind by HAIM I love these girls. This song gives me life. You must own it immediately. Watching:  An African City I am happy that there is finally a show that showcases a different view on Africa. Make sure you check out this fabulous web-series. Broad City This clip is just a small glimpse into the comedic genius that is Broad City . Every episode had me laughing out loud.  Reading: I have been failing miserably to accomplish my reading challenge this year. I am hoping Bag of Bones will be my salvation. So far, I am enjoying it.  Eating: Just a collage of this month in food.  Drinking I have never been a huge coffee drinker but I am loving Rocking & Roastin'. It is so refreshing to see celebrities venturing into different side businesses apart f...

76 Hours: Hurricane Sandy's Aftermath

On the eve of Halloween festivities a storm out of a horror movie wrecked havoc along the east coast of the United States. One week ago, I was helping to plan my brother in law's birthday party. I never would have imagined the destruction that the Tri-state would be facing a week from that time. I never would have imagined that Jersey shore which I have come to love would have been destroyed. I never would have imagined that Atlantic City would be covered in water. I never would have imagined that vast amount of states would be in darkness. When I realized that the storm was serious was the day before it hit the coast. My sister and I made a getaway back to our home to prepare for the storm. We brought in all the furniture from outside, filled the car with gas and got as much canned food as we could. Since we were getting supplies late in the game, flashlights were scarce. Then we waited for the storm to hit. Come Monday morning the weather was ridiculous. It...

In the land of butterflies and deer

Image
Wetlands Creepy forest from this light does not look that bad Earlier this week I went to check out the Negri-Nepote Native Grassland Preserve and I decided when I was ready I would hike it. So early this afternoon I began my little adventure in the land of butterflies and deer. Everywhere I turned there were dozens of butterflies dancing around. I could hear birds chirping and things hissing in the grass which I prayed turned out not to be snakes. I got to a creepy forest entrance and because I am curious kitten decided to explore it. It get a little awkward since I was the only one there, so I did not venture too far in. Once I left the "forest" I came across a meadow area with breathtaking purple flowers. While in the midst of picture taking a deer came running across the plain. It was galloping too fast, so I was unable to take a picture. The hike was peaceful and easy, great start for beginners like myself. Nothing but blue skies ...

What a beautiful day for adventure

Image
The Entrance I must have experienced some sort of cabin fever today because I was bursting to get out of the house. I decided to go for a little drive. Where I live is kind of amazing because in a few minutes you are either in commercial heaven or surrounded by farms and creeks. I was lucky enough to come across a trail during one of my explorations. Today I decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. I did not go on the actual trail because I was not  appropriately dressed for a hike. I did managed to take some photos of the area. Isn't it beautiful? Today there was a rare bird sighting, got a lot of people excited. I thought this a beautiful shot The beginning of the trail
