Oscar Predications

Hey Y'all,
I am back in Ithaca now preparing myself for my last semester as a college student. It is a scary thought but I am hopeful about what the new year will bring. Nothing can be worse than last semester. As promised I wanted to make my Oscar predictions prior to the nominations being announced on Thursday. Here it goes,

Best Actor
Sean Penn- Milk
Brad Pitt- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Mickey Rourke- The Wrestler
Clint Eastwood- Gran Torino
Frank Langella- Frost/ Nixon
Wildcard: Richard Jenkins- The Visitor or Leonardo Dicaprio- Revolutionary Road

Best Actress
Anne Hathaway- Rachel's Getting Married
Meryl Streep- Doubt
Kate Winslet- Revolutionary Road
Kristin Scott Thomas- I've Loved You So Long
Angelina Jolie- The Changeling
Wildcard: Sally Hawkins- Happy Go Lucky( I really want her to be nominated but she was shut out from the BAFTAs.)

Best Supporting Actor
Heath Ledger- The Dark Knight
Phillip Seymour Hoffman- Doubt
Josh Brolin- Milk
Robert Downey Jr- Tropic Thunder
Dev Patel- Slumdog Millionaire ( i will cry if he is nominated)


Best Supporting Actress

Penelope Cruz- Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Viola Davis- Doubt
Kate Winslet- The Reader
Marisa Tomei- The Wrestler
Tarajj P. Henson- The Curious Case of Barcelona
Wildcard- Amy Adams- Doubt

Best Director

Danny Boyle- Slumdog Millionaire
David Fincher- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Ron Howard- Frost/Nixon
Gus Van Saint- Milk
Christopher Nolan- The Dark Knight
Wildcard: Sam Mendes- Revolutionary Road


Slumdog Millionaire will probably be the film with the most nominations. I am predicting it will pick up best adapted screenplay, best original score, best cinematography and best editing as well.
