Frailty of Life

Almost a week ago, the unthinkable happened in Aurora, Colorado. During the midnight showing of the highly anticipated conclusion to the Batman trilogy The Dark Knight Rises,  an armed gunman opened fire to unsuspecting crowd. It is the worst mass shooting in  US History . 12 people were killed and another 58 were wounded. I remember when I woke up Friday morning. I was thinking about what day would be best to see The Dark Knight Rises . To say I was looking forward to the film would be an understatement. When my twin sister told me  the unfathomable, I was in complete shock. Movies have always been my comfort from the storm and the movie theaters have been my sanctuary. For a place that is so sacred to me to be attacked, shook my core. If I can't be safe going to the movies, I can't be safe anywhere. It is just a reminder that life is fragile and tomorrow is not promised to no one. One thing that irked me during the news coverage of the ...

The Absurdity of Being a Fangirl

The time has finally arrived for me to post my first videolog. It has long been overdue but I am excited to share it with y'all. Before you watch the video I have a confession to make, I am a fangirl. Now that is off my chest I can explain to y'all what possessed me do this video. For a long time I thought I was the only one who had these all consuming feelings for fictional characters. When I discovered Tumblr last year, I realized that not only was I not alone but there were hundreds of people who were more crazed than I was. It was a refreshing feeling. I have decided to do a video about the dilemmas that happens when you are a fangirl. It is a bit tongue in cheek. Below you will find terms that I will be using in the video. These are terms that average person will not understand, so I have created a little cheat sheet for y'all. Let me know what you think about my video log. If you like it there is a good chance that this will be the first of many. Fangirl...

What's Happening?

Here in the United States it is very difficult to turn on a news channel and hear anything other than American politics. This has been ongoing since 2009. It can be suffocating and I have had it up to here about the elections. I spend most of time searching for what is happening in the world. I thought I would share my findings with y'all. I have composed of a list of breaking news around the globe. There are some crazy things happening and there is not much focus on them here. Which I find a bit disheartening. Most of my findings( not all) came from Al Jazeera and BBC News. Africa Later on this month Libya is due to hold elections for a national assembly, this will be the first free poll in decades. The current ruling party is the National Transitional Council(NTC) which took power last year after the Libyan revolution. Things have not been easy for the Northern African country. Just earlier this month, the recent tribal clashes in western Libya have left 1...

Deal Breaker

Deal breaker: any issue or factor that is significant enough to terminate a negotiation (Dictionary. Com) Deal breaker:   ‘the catch’ that a particular individual cannot overlook and ultimately outweighs any redeeming quality the individual may possess.  (Urban Dictionary) A few days ago I was listening to a radio program and a man called in for relationship advice. He wanted to know if he should break up with his girlfriend who had "crazy" political views. It turns out that she was more of a MSNBC girl and he was more of a FOX News guy. Funny, I never thought of MSNBC as being a liberal news network. You learn something new every day. Anyway, it got me thinking about deal breakers in relationships. It is a general rule of thumb not to discuss politics or religion when you are just starting to get to know someone. Otherwise, you find yourself sneaking outside the bathroom window or alone at a restaurant table watching your food get cold. What happe...

That's a Wrap

Now that Memorial Weekend is upon us(well at least here in the USA), summer has officially began. Which means that May sweeps is coming to a close as our favorite television shows bid as adieu until the fall. It won't be all bad since True Blood(HBO) returns June 10. I have suspicion it will be a good as the first two seasons this year. My guilty pleasure Awkward(MTV)  also returns next month. Now sit back and relax as I take you on a journey of the high, the lows and big old hot messes of the 2011-2012 Television season. The Walking Dead, AMC The Goods: The producers were not kidding when they said the second half of the season would be action packed. I was on the edge of my seat every single episode. Not to mention I got misty-eyed during the epic conclusion of my favorite bromance. You knew it was imminent but it still was gut-wrenching to witness. Each character continued to evolve and it was beautiful to watch. How this new life was harde...

It's a Big F@#$ing Deal!

Just moments ago President Obama became the first seating president to publicly endorse same-sex marriage. In the words of Vice President Joe Biden this is a big f@#$ing deal! Unless you are living under a rock, everyone is aware that the topic of same-sex marriage is hot button in the United States. Just earlier this week North Carolina passed the Marriage Protection Amendment which bans same-sex marriage in the state. Since apparently two people of the same- sex getting married  threatens the sanctity  of marriage. Already Fox News has accused President Obama of declaring war on marriage. I guess the "War on Christmas" was not sufficient enough for him. Now I will be the first to admit that I was shocked President Obama  publicly took a stance on Marriage Equality especially in the beginning of his reelection campaign. I always knew that he would take this position but I thought he would do so if and after he won ...
