Three Nights in Nola: Jazz and Beignets

Image
Our first day in New Orleans was  a complete success. Minus the humidity and heavy rain, I was in love with the Crescent City. Our second day was jammed pack with activities, I am shocked that I managed to keep up. It was a Sunday, out of all the days we were there it was the sunniest day. We started the day off at Cafe du Monde. Where we got to try the famous Beignets. The line was ridiculously long, but the wait was not long at all. Beignets tasted like funnel cake, it was delicious but I could only stomach two of them.

Three Nights in Nola: Day One

Image
After being inside the world for three fabulous decades, I decided it was about time for me to celebrate my life. My sister and I headed down to the Big Easy with two of our best gals to welcome ourselves to the 30 year old club. Our trip to New Orleans began bright and early on Saturday morning. After checking into our Airbnb and resting for a few hours, we decided it was time to check out the city. Our first stop was to Ruby Slippers for brunch. I started my day off with a mimosa and 3 Little Pig Omelette. 3 Little Pit Omelette with fresh fruits and biscuits.  I will have to admit that was one damn good omelette. Once we were done eating, we heading down to the Marriott to pick up the last passenger on our trip. Once our group was complete we headed to the French Quarters. I had to look as fabulous as the city made me feel.   The French Quarters was surreal. It was building after building, of vibrant colors and beautiful architecture. Each building was drip...

Springtime in New York

Image
Could my eyes be deceiving me or has spring arrived to New York City. There are some days when the skies look more downtrodden than my soul, but those days are far in between from the glorious days of sunshine and the occasional April showers.  Just kickin' it I am currently getting my Masters at NYU, which means that I am fortunate to be around Washington Square Park. On warm days, the park is buzzing with people and dogs. Boba Guys just opened around the corner and as you can imagine I have been going a little crazy.  Strawberry Matcha Latte  Everything is in bloom. The cherry blossoms have been on full display. Even the fountains have made a return.  The Man and the Cherry Blossom Tree I can only imagine what the energy will be like once summer makes a return. All these people and my eyes goes to the dog

On Thursdays we listen to music

There is so much craziness that is going on the world today. We have to deal with erratic politicians, the devastation of war, famine (the biggest humanitarian crisis since WWII) , extreme poverty, terrorism, near extinction of rhinos, and ignorance. Sometimes, you need an escape. Here are some songs that are getting me through 2017. I remain hopeful that some day in the future, everyone will have the luxury of their biggest worry being where to go on holiday. Let Me Brighton Your Day.

Image
It was a beautiful July morning and we had our eyes set on heading down to Brighton. I did not know much about Brighton, only that it was a popular destination and Adele had a home there. We caught an early train and arrived to Brighton with tons of hours to kill.   Unfortunately, it was not a warm day to be heading down to the beach. It was incredibly windy, but Brighton was so lovely that I did not mind much. J ust like a postcard Everywhere I turned was picturesque. Tons of trinkets to pick up along the way. We got few items to nibble on since we had missed breakfast. I got myself some hot cocoa to keep myself warm. Lunch time, I decided it was time to try fish and chips. I could not leave England without tasting one of their famous dishes.  It was not quite what I expected, but at least the waiter was hot. Fish n' chips We got to explore the pier and the shore. It would have been enjoyable to take advantage of the water, but it was too cold. ...
