I didn't know I had a baby

I came across an adorable clip on youtube that is called "Baby Givin the evil look!" When I watched it I thought I did not know I had a baby. This kid has perfected the look that is my trademark, therefore he must be my son. Check it out,

This girl is amazing!

So i came across this link through my cousin. This young girl is absolutely amazing. Her name is Gerra Gistand and she is a MLK scholar. She gave a speech about what she thought Martin Luther King Jr. would say if he was alive today. I do not think at her age I had this amount of passion in my voice. If I am honest with myself she has the amount of stage presence in her voice that I would love to emulate. I say get it girl. She is definitely going places and will probably be a voice for her generation.

Oscars Tonight

Tonight is a big night! The Oscars will be happening in a few hours, so I got to do as much reading before that. It is no secret that I have been rooting for Slumdog Millionaire( in my opinion an instant classic). I cannot wait to see my barely legal husband, Dev Patel tonight. Fun fact his parents are from Kenya(Hey now). It should be a good show and not much a bore as last years. The host is the talented and sexiest man alive (according to People) Hugh Jackman. I still do not understand why Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will be performing at the Oscars( this is a show that honors the creme of the creme in acting, not in spray tanning). Ha Ha, I made a funny! I am hoping that Kate Winslet finally picks up a trophy for Best Actress. She was incredible in The Reader but I will be happy if Meryl Streep wins as well(she really is the HBIC when it comes to acting). I am hoping that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button picks up so awards as well. I loved that movie, it really pulled my he

A page out of my black history

This month is black history month, which I still find a bit problematic. During my naive years I used to think that dedicating a whole month to the achievements of black folk was an excellent idea. Now I am looking forward to the day when there would be no need for having black history month because black history would have been integrated within American history. Neither the less this month I have been thinking about how I came into my own chocolate deliciousness(not really a phrase yet but it will catch on). I have always been surrounded by beautiful, strong and intelligent women. The women in my family were a force to be reckon with. They had a sense of entitlement and did not let anyone mess them around. I wanted to grow up to be as elegant and beautiful as Keisha from the R&B group Total. Fun fact she is now married to Omar Epps(he has good taste). As a child of the 90's my heroines were Wednesday from the Adams Family, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena the Warrior Princes

Doubt

So my rampage to watch the majority of Oscar nominated films continues. Earlier today I had the distinct pleasure of watching Doubt . It was an excellent movie that deserves all the recognition it has gotten. Meryl Streep was amazing, I would have been pissing in my pants if she was my principal. Phillip Seymour Hoffman blow me away. I am actually thinking that he should be given the best supporting actor Oscar but its tricky because Heath Ledger was brilliant. Amy Adams was spectacular and I was shocked at the little screen time Viola Davis got. It made me question if she should have been nominated for best supporting actress. That out of the way she was amazing in this film. I am impressed so far by the films nominated for Oscars this year. Usually they are a bit on the boring side but lately filmmakers are making me remember way I loved movies in the first place.

Outing Someone is Just Wrong

Hello, I am a bit stressed by a quiz that I took online. It seems to playing over my head like a record. Well I am not here to talk about my quiz I took but I am happy to report things are looking better for me this semester. I am being the best student I can be and do not have an overwhelming negative feeling in my chest. As anyone closest to me know I have recently rediscovered the New Kids on The Block even though I was only two at their height of their success. I admit there was one time I was obsessed with watching the Step by Step video on Youtube. By the end of the year I am going to get the beginning dance down, I will break it out during a New Year's Party. Well earlier today it was reported that one of the stories in the National Enquirer( not the classiest magazine) was a tell all by the ex boyfriend of Jonathan Knight(the guy you wanted to take home to meet the parents member of New Kids on the Block). It had become apparent to me that Jonathan Knight was gay but I did

Love Song To Slumdog

Yesterday night I finally gave into my cravings and saw Slumdog Millionaire . There have been tons of whispers of how wonderful the film was and I had a feeling it would be worth every penny. To my surprise the movie was not a good movie... it was phenomenal! I was blown away by the cinematography, the editing and the directing. The score was excellent and I am in love with "Jai Ho". There was not a single weak link when it came to acting. I was particularly impressed by all of the actors who played the characters of Salim and Jamal. How fantastic is Dev Patel? Shame he was not nominated for an Oscar. I really believe in my heart and my critic gut that this movie will sweep the Oscars. In my long history of film watching I have not seen in film in the caliber of Slumdog Millionaire . The only film that provoked the same type of emotion out of me was Tsotsi , which won best foreign film at the Oscars a couple of years ago. It was incredible on Danny Boyle part to make this t
