Uterus We Have A Problem: War on Women Part 1

This week marks the beginning of Women's History Month. Which is an opportune time to discuss the ongoing war on women across the globe. So all of my posts this month will be relating to different facets in the war against women. As you can tell by my post title, I want to discuss the reproductive rights of women first, actually more the lack of rights. Being a feminist during an election year it becomes harder and harder to find a woman's candidate. There are too many people who are in office who do not have women's best interest in mind. The fact that the Blunt amendment was up for a vote this week is an extremely alarming reality. Under this legislation any corporation can deny coverage to any type of health service based on religious or moral objections. The chances of anyone objecting to Viagra will be slim. The chances of objections to birth control pills will be high. As you know the aspirin between the legs technique is making a comeback. Who needs access to birth control besides harlots? In fact we don't have enough coverage for Viagra.   Interesting fact, the majority of Americans actually object to this proposed amendment. This is just another reminder how out of touch the politicians in Washington are with the voting public. Let me go one step further and say that they did not comprehend what birth control does. In fact good majority of people( mostly men) do not. Let me break it down for people who do not speak the language of women. You do not take birth control pills every time you have sex. They are not Viagra. You have to take them on a daily basis like many other prescription drugs. There are a lot of women who take them for medical reasons; for example if they have painful or heavy periods. Let me reiterate it doesn't matter how much or in some cases how little women are having sex, they will be taking the same dosage all the time. So they are not being sluts( cough cough Rush Limbaugh) they are being responsible. I suggest before you weigh in on this situation make sure you are educated on the subject matter. Otherwise you just look like an asswipe.

My opinion is women are the one's that will be ones doing the carrying for nine months and will be the ones going through hours of labor. They are the ones whose bodies goes through changes and they should be the ones who have the final say in when and if they have children. The government should not be involved in this matter. It should be private discussion between women and their doctors. What will be next? Will women be banned for going out in public when they are menstruating? Women should not be ashamed of their sexuality nor should they be afraid to voice their opinions. All this bickering makes it apparent that people do not trust women's judgement. That is the fact that pisses me off the most. What decade do we live in? I'm having serious flashbacks to the sixties and I wasn't even born.
